An annual trip to Pumpkinland is a Delaware Valley family tradition. During the months of September and October, Pumpkinland takes center stage at Linvilla Orchards. Larger than life figures and scarecrows illustrate the legends and lore of the harvest season, local history and some of the many stories of pumpkins and apples.

Brandywine River Museum

From honey and apples to pottery and handcrafted jewelry, regional artisans showcase their crafts at the Brandywine River Museum's Annual Fall Harvest Market in the museum courtyard. Hand-woven rugs, dried flowers and wreaths, pottery, quilted fabric items and handcrafted dolls are included on a rotating basis. Free with museum admission.

Fall Fun Day for Kids

This children's event features a hay slide, needle in the hay stack, corn husk doll making, lumberjacking, sack races, paper making, bean bag toss, hay maze, candle making and much more. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Leave the electronic games behind and enjoy fun on the farm the way it has been enjoyed for generations.

Newlin Grist Mill
Fall Harvest Festival


Historic demonstrators and craftsmen arrive at Newlin Grist Mill to demonstrate the sights sounds and smells of 18th century life. Smell the first of a wood-burning bake oven with Blue Hen Bakers, watch open hearth cooks work over an open fire, hear the sounds of iron pounding in the blacksmith shop, and have your own silhouette made. Enjoy the sounds or period harp and mandolin music or catch a performance of 18th century acapella music by The Colonial Revelers.

Historic Cooking and Baking Workshops


Blue Hen Bakers, Historic Connections, Baking with Corn 10:00am - 4:00pm  
 
This is a hands-on workshop that will give participants the chance to work in an 18th century wood-fired bake oven while preparing a variety of corn based recipes. The workshop includes lunch, samplings, and take home goods from the days’ efforts.

Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation

On Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th come see what life was really like during the Middle Ages in Europe.  From the Vikings to the age of Columbus, various encampments will portray aspects of Medieval Life.  See how five hundred years of European culture thrived and changed. Saxons, Normans, Vikings, and Knights Hospitalers will portray life of this heroic era of Western Civilization. Finally witness the changes that technology made by the late Middle Ages by viewing the 15th century War of the Roses and Irish encampments. Food and refreshments may be purchased.

Time - 10 to 5 with last entry at 4pm on Saturday, 10 to 3:30 with last admission at 2:30 on Sunday.

Adults - $12.00 and children (4 to 12) -$8.00

Children of all ages and their grown-ups enjoy a day complete with fall activities, a food court, home baked goods for sale, and an incredible selection of pumpkins of all sizes. Little ones dance to live music, everyone gets spooked in Tyler's Haunted Barn, tour the Arboretum in a Hay Wagon, make a Scarecrow to adorn your front porch, make crafts and play games!

Chadds Ford Historical Society



Thursday, October 27th, 5 to 9 p.m.- Local artists carve huge pumpkins on the grounds of the Chadds Ford Historical Society. Winners announced sometime after 8:30.

Friday, October 28th, 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 29th, 5 to 9 p.m.- Candle-lit carved pumpkins, with winners identified, cover the Historical Society grounds.

All three nights - family fun, good food live music, and hay rides! Admission is $5 per adult 18 and up, children 7 to 17 are $3 each, and those 6 and under are free.
